The Cake and bake show began on Friday the 21st of October 2022 at the Excel Centre London and boy were we in for a surprise. The show had a lineup of famous bakers, chefs, and sugar crafters.
Among the lineup on day one were, Rosemary Shrager and Cherish Finden, sweet treats, and great brands galore.
Subsequent days boasts the fantastic Oli The Choc, ChellsBells Cakes & Lissie Lou. It was a good deal to have all sessions in the theatres included with a valid entry ticket.
Upon entry to the venue, one is graced with a memorable cake display of the beloved Paddington Bear at tea with the queen. This tribute to the Queen was very touching and much appreciated by all who gazed upon this creation.
TICKET INFORMATION WE PAID
Tickets cost £8.50 per Adult, £5.00 per child [ 7-15] and under 6 year old go free.
Although we didn't get to see all the famous individuals, well probably one or two, we saw lots of stunning cakes.
CAKE COMPETITIONS:
The stakes for this year's competition were at an all-time high with bakers focused on presenting cakes with amazing details and accuracy. Such was the expertise of the cake presentations that it was such an unthinkable notion to even suggest the cakes be cut! The judges would have a tough decision to make as most cakes go neck and neck in the creativity and encapsulating the theme department!
The children's category was also mesmerizing and most cakes showed great promise. However, not all entries to this Halloween-themed cake competition understood the assignment. Some cakes left little wonder as to whether or not they took the competition seriously. Cracks, colour bleeding, and downright tackiness. Not cake show worthy in m opinion but a commendation at their cake entry.
We noticed on Instagram that the judges had already begun to judge the cakes. What a delight to see photographed with the judges one of the cakes we voted for.

CUPCAKE COMPETITION ENTRIES;
The cupcake entries completely blew our minds. They were the best we had ever seen. Have a look at some of the entries and see if you share our sentiment.

FOOD COURTS
There were lots of food courts and vendors with delicious treats to try and buy. While the food looked and smelt good, we found it relatively cheaper with a choice of more options to eat outside of the venue. My boys are very picky eaters and the food in the food courts although mouth-watering did not entice them enough to eat anything. So bear in mind that that option is available to you. We returned back to the show after our lunch.
OTHER CAKE COMPANIES:
We were delighted that two of our favourite cake companies made a return this year. Karen Davies sugar crafts and Tasteful cakes Academy. The works of these two companies precede them. It is always a pleasure to see their creations.
